Local woman charged with stealing bank bags

A Jefferson City woman has been charged with stealing bank bags from a Sonic restaurant in Jefferson City.

Jessica Hake, 31, is charged with one count of felony stealing, which means the amount of the theft totaled at least $750.

A Jefferson City Police Department probable cause statement states the thefts were believed to have occurred at the Sonic on Commerce Drive in August.

The manager of the restaurant reported Hake took two bank bags to deposit at Central Bank on Aug. 12 and 16. However, the manager received a call from Central Bank, saying they did not receive either of the bags Hake was to have delivered. Another employee reported driving Hake’s vehicle a few days later and noticed a bank bag in her driver door.

When questioned, Hake reportedly told officers she didn’t know what happened to the other bag and claimed it may have fallen out of her vehicle when she stopped to put oil in before doing the bank drop.
