The Callaway County Sheriff's Department confirmed Wednesday they were investigating thefts from unlocked vehicles that appeared to have occurred Tuesday night or early Wednesday morning near Holts Summit.
"We received two reports of thefts from unlocked vehicles just south of Holts Summit - one on Lee Street and one on Summit View Drive," said Callaway County Sheriff Clay Chism. "The investigations are fluid. Citizens are reminded to lock their vehicles. Most times when we investigate thefts as these, the victim vehicles were unlocked, allowing for easy suspect access. Seldom do we investigate a true 'break-in' where forced entry was used to enter a vehicle."
