3 candidates seek Russellville East Ward seat

March 20th, 2019 by Danisha Hogue in Local News

Three candidates are running for the East Ward seat on the Russellville Board of Aldermen in the April 2 election.

The candidates are Ben Homeyer, Sharon Williams and Russell Wilson.

Williams said she is interested in seeing community growth in the area. Her father's family is from the area, and she has been a resident for many years.

"I love Russellville," Williams said. "I just want what's best, and if I can contribute, then I want to be able to do that."

A Jefferson City High School graduate, Williams is a legislative assistant for the Missouri House of Representatives.

She said her experience as an officer for the Elks Lodge 513 and volunteer with Jefferson City Public Schools would benefit the board.

Williams also served as East Ward alderwoman in 2016. She stepped down in April 2018.

She said she "brings a wealth of knowledge and experience on city projects and issues."

Wilson said he is running by request of fellow Russellville residents. A Jefferson City High School graduate, he has lived in Russellville for seven years.

He said he is qualified for the seat because the position is familiar to him — Wilson was elected East Ward aldermen in 2015 and served on the board until 2017.

As an alderman, he said, he has "played a role in getting rid of water and sewer maintenance in town."

Wilson works at Little Dixie Construction in Columbia, and his son is a freshman at Russellville High School.

Homeyer, who owns Homeyer Bailbonds in Jefferson City, did not respond to a request for comment for this story.
