Two people were arrested after a drug bust Thursday in Moniteau County.
Sheriff’s department reports show deputies assisted the California Police Department on a complaint at the Eagle Stop Store.
A deputy spoke with the occupants of a vehicle on the store parking lot — identified as Jonathan McCarty, 37, of California, and Tamara Deroo, 20, of Versailles. The deputy asked for a consent to search the vehicle, but was denied, so K-9 Apollo was called to the scene. The dog gave a positive alert for drugs in the vehicle and that led to deputies searching the vehicle where they reportedly found methamphetamine, scales and other drugs.
McCarty and Deroo were taken into custody for possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia.
