For the second time this month, a Jefferson City couple is accused of delivery of a controlled substance.

Stewart Grooms and Markesha Rivers, both 21, are originally from Tennessee.

Jefferson City police went to the couple's residence in the 1300 block of East Dunklin Street on March 5 to serve an arrest warrant. A search of the residence turned up 109 packages of vaping pods weighing 1 gram each. Officers also found nearly $12,500 in cash in denominations of $20, $50 and $100 bills.

It was the second time in two days a search warrant had been served at the residence.

On March 4, Grooms was charged with delivery of a controlled substance and unlawful use of a weapon, while Rivers was charged with possession of a controlled substance and unlawful use of a weapon.

Officers served a narcotics search warrant at their East Dunklin Street home, and Rivers was found in the home.

Officers found three plastic containers the size of cereal boxes in kitchen cabinets that contained marijuana. Packaging materials, digital scales, a vacuum sealer and a money counter also were found. The marijuana seized weighed 1.5 pounds. There was also $26,000 in cash found along with a fully loaded Glock model 21 gun.

Rivers told officers she was a habitual user of marijuana and Grooms got the drug for her.

Grooms later was stopped for a traffic violation while driving on Christy Drive. He was taken into custody based on the evidence found at the East Dunklin Street residence. A search of his vehicle turned up another Glock firearm in the glove box, and in the trunk of the vehicle officers found another pistol. Loaded ammunition magazines and boxes of ammunition also were recovered.

Grooms told police he also was a habitual user of marijuana, and all the marijuana in the home was for his personal use.
