Chase case leads to prison time

A Jefferson City man has been sentenced to five years in prison for charges in connection with a Feb. 8, 2018, chase with authorities.

Scott Gill, 51, pleaded guilty to driving while impaired (habitual) and driving while revoked during a Friday hearing before Cole County Senior Judge Richard Callahan.

The chase started after a deputy saw Gill pull out of Bee Line Snack Hop on West Business 50 with no front license plate, according to a Cole County Sheriff’s Department probable cause statement.

The deputy attempted to stop Gill as he turned onto Apache Trail from Business 50, but he failed to stop, and the pursuit began. The pursuit went onto Big Horn Drive, then turned onto Horner Road, going east. Gill pulled onto Westland Road and eventually stopped.

He was found to be intoxicated and had three previous DWI convictions before this incident.
