The Eldon Board of Education approved changes to the base salary schedule and benefits for staff during a June 28 budget meeting.
Long-term disability for all staff will be paid for by the board. Superintendent Matt Davis said this will be a nice change for employees and cost the district $32,000.
Members approved a $1,000 increase, which brings the base to $34,750. A step for certified and support staff will cost the district $137,512, and a $2,000 increase to administrative base will cost an estimated $30,142.
"Always working to pay our teachers better is something that we strive to do," Davis said.
The budget is similar to previous years, he added.
Approximately $21,730,427 in revenues and $22,486,169 in expenditures is what the district projects.
"We're happy with our budget and where we're coming in," Davis said. "We consider it a very balanced budget that will meet the needs of our students."
Purchases of video projectors, administrative technology, an electric piano and an intercom system are a few expenditures.
Renovations to the fourth-grade restroom at Upper Elementary will include new flooring, and the third-grade restroom will receive plumbing updates.
Parking lot repairs are expected to begin next week, Davis said.
School board treasurer Sarah Rader said in a budget summary the district is approaching expenditures "in a fiscally responsible manner which leads to future financial stability."
