Jefferson City man injured in car, school bus collision

No injuries were reported aboard an Eldon school bus Friday morning after it failed to yield to a car and triggered a crash that sent the Jefferson City driver of the car to the hospital.

A school bus, driven by Brian A. Wester, 47, of Eldon, travelled across U.S. 54 West onto Short Road in Miller County at 7:38 a.m., and failed to yield to a 2004 Saturn Ion driven by Ralph D. Kidd, 46, of Jefferson City, according to a report from the Missouri Highway Patrol.

The westbound Ion struck the northbound bus. Pictures tweeted by the patrol on Friday show the car off the road and down in a ditch, with extensive damage to at least its front end and driver's side. It's considered totalled.

Kidd sustained moderate injuries and was taken to Capital Region Hospital by Miller County Ambulance for treatment. He and Wester were wearing seat belts.

The school bus sustained minor damage.
