Jefferson City teen charged for shooting out car windows

A Jefferson City teenager has been charged with shooting out windows of vehicles last month.

Dorain Lee, 17, is charged with three misdemeanor counts of second-degree property damage.

The incidents occurred Jan. 8 at Schnucks on Missouri Boulevard, according to a Jefferson City Police Department probable cause statement.

Lee, an unidentified 15-year-old and another unidentified individual allegedly were observed on Schnucks' security cameras shooting the windows out of three parked vehicles on the north side of the business, causing damage in excess of $750.

The three then went to the DeVille Southwest Apartment Complex, just south of Schnucks, where they shot several sliding glass windows and stole a fire extinguisher, causing damage of more than $750.

Lee and one of his alleged accomplices later went to the 1000 block of Northeast Drive, where they shot the driver's side window out of a parked car, then to the 1000 block of Elizabeth Street, where they shot out the rear window of a van. Damage to both vehicles was in excess of $200.

When questioned by authorities, Lee initially denied being at Schnucks and DeVille, although authorities said he matched the description given of one of those who committed the damages.

When confronted with the security video, Lee admitted he had been involved in the incidents.

The other two defendants in this case later were located and admitted their involvement, according to police. One of the individuals was in possession of two Co2 BB pistols believed to have been used to commit the damage.
