Jefferson City police investigating 2 shooting incidents

Jefferson City police are investigating two shooting incidents - one on Sunday night and the other early Monday morning.

The first shooting was reported at approximately 9:45 p.m. Sunday night in the 900 block of Adams Street.

According to police reports, there was a disturbance involving several people in the area that led to shots being fired. There were no reports of injuries or property damage in the area.

The second shooting occurred at approximately 2:25 a.m. Monday morning in the 1000 block of Elizabeth Street.

Witnesses reported a man was shooting at a vehicle on the street and officers later located a car, parked an unoccupied, with multiple bullet holes.

Officers located the owner of the vehicle who reportedly said her boyfriend was responsible and had also assaulted her prior to leaving the area.

Officers were able to locate the suspect and take him into custody.

The suspect is facing potential charges of fourth-degree domestic assault, first-degree property damage, unlawful use of a weapon and armed criminal action. His name was not released pending the filing of formal charges.

Authorities said they do not believe the two incidents are related.
