Camdenton man placed on five years probation

A Camdenton man has been placed on five years of supervised probation in connection with a Cole County forgery case.

Matthew Denny, 18, of Camdenton, pleaded guilty to felony forgery during a hearing before Cole County Judge Dan Green.

Denny admitted to taking a check he knew to be stolen to cash it for $4,500 in May, according to a Jefferson City Police Department probable cause statement.

Lake Ozark Police reported checks had been stolen from Vince Kolb Auto Sales and vehicle keys had been taken during a burglary from the business. The keys were recovered.

Denny was with a group of men who attempted to cash a check for $4,500 from the business at Jefferson Bank on Southwest Boulevard in Jefferson City.
