Russellville man arrested after child porn investigation

A Russellville man was arrested Tuesday for possession of child pornography after an investigation by the Boone County Sheriff’s Department’s Cyber Crimes Task Force.

Sheldon C. Higginbotham, 29, was arrested on two felony possession of child pornography counts — one a class D felony and the other a class B felony, according to a news release from the Boone County cyber crimes task force.

The task force had received a report from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children about apparent child pornography photographs being uploaded to a social media account, and established that a location for the account user was at a Russellville residence.

Several items of electronic evidence were seized Sept. 26 after a search warrant was executed, but Higginbotham was not home at the time. Attempts to locate him were unsuccessful.

Forensic analysis of the seized electronic evidence “revealed a large number of photographs depicting apparent children between the ages of 5 and 12 engaging in the lascivious display of genitals as well as sex acts with adult men.”

Higginbotham was located and arrested Tuesday on unrelated charges in Cole County, and he was then arrested and booked for the counts on the alleged child pornography possession.

He is currently being held without bond.
