State worker honored for going 'above and beyond'

The State of Missouri Employee of the Month for March is Nola Dodge from the Department of Health & Senior Services Division of Senior & Disability Services.

Dodge has worked for the state for seven years.

Dodge's supervisors said she was being honored because she "willingly goes above and beyond what is expected."

Her co-workers noted she often volunteers to help out during times of short staffing and is willing to go to any location in the area for which her office is responsible.

Part of the reason Dodge was nominated was her people skills, in particular dealing with calls on the office hotline.

In her award recognition, one of her bosses said, "Nola is skilled at recognizing risks to our most vulnerable populations and she is very effective at implementing a variety of complex protective service interventions. Her efforts are inspiring to anyone who has witnessed her dedication to her clients."

Another supervisor noted, "Nola is very dedicated to her work in DSDS and is always willing to take on difficult cases. She enjoys helping others and she is very energetic and thorough in her efforts to protect the most vulnerable."

An adult protective and community worker, Dodge lives in Columbia with her 8-year-old son and enjoys coaching his YMCA basketball team.
