The survivors and their caregivers prepare to make a lap around the track at the Moniteau County Relay For Life on June 9, 2017.

This year's Moniteau County Relay For Life will be held at 6 p.m. Friday at Tipton High School.

Last year, the relay raised $70,000 for cancer research.

The Survivor Registration/Reception will begin at 6 p.m. under the big tent. A silent auction also will open at 6 p.m. in the same location.

The opening ceremony will begin at 7 p.m. at the grandstands. Then there will be the presentation of flags by California Boy Scouts Pack 120, the national anthem sung by Dylin Cline, a baked good auction, words of courage by Emily Messerli, sponsorship recognition, the Survivor/Caregiver lap; and a parade of teams.

The Luminaria sale will end and silent auction will close at 8:45 p.m.

The Luminaria Ceremony will be at 9:30 p.m., and the closing ceremony will be at 11:30 p.m.

Kara Korte, event lead for the relay, said 17 teams have signed up so far for this year's event.

"There are activities for all ages," Korte said. "Each team will have a game for kids, while some teams will have food. Most of our teams do both."

There also will be activities for the teams.

"I think it is a fun night for a good cause," Korte said. "We have had more teams in the last two years than we have had in the last probably six or seven years."

This year's fundraising goal is $65,000.

More information about the event can be found on the Relay For Life of Moniteau County Facebook page.
