Downtown Jefferson City's biggest pub crawl yet will hit Saturday with attendees attired in wigs and onesies.

The free event will offer specials at participating bars Saturday evening throughout downtown Jefferson City. Participants also will be able to participate in a scavenger hunt.

Highlighting the evening will be the wicked wigs and get-ups participants are encouraged to wear.

In all, at least 11 bars will participate in Saturday's pub crawl, including Bones in the Alley, The Bridge and The Grand Cafe, The Mission, O'Donoghue's, Shrunken Head Tropic Lounge, High Street Pub and Gumbo Bottoms Ale House, among others.

Downtown Association President Crystal Tellman said the excitement is high for this weekend's event.

"I think it's the biggest pub crawl we've had yet," Tellman said.

Festivities and drink specials at participating bars start at 6 p.m. Saturday. Free trolley rides to participating bars start at 7:30 p.m. and run until 11:30 p.m.

Tellman said the pub crawl tried to craft a diverse lineup of bars, with sports bars like J. Pfenny's Sports Grill & Pub and Spectators along with more sophisticated bars like Capitol Plaza Hotel's Fountain Court bar and the DoubleTree by Hilton's Sapphire's.

This downtown pub crawl started about seven years ago and features a theme each year. This time around, participants are encouraged to wear wigs, onesies or both.

High temperatures Saturday are forecast to be around 50 degrees but with low temperatures hovering in the 20s. Tellman hopes the weather will be nice, but cool.

"Everyone will be nice and warm in their onesie," Tellman said. "Any kind of onesie works - if you go out and buy a unicorn or if you want to wear your coveralls."

The Downtown Association hopes about 350 people will attend the pub crawl.

Free punch cards for the pub crawl can be picked up at all participating bars. Participants who go to at least five bars and get their cards stamped will be entered into a prize drawing.

Wigs for a scavenger hunt will be placed in four bars. People who find three of the four wigs and write them on their punch card will be entered to win additional prizes.
