Four arrested after shots fired at Cole County home

Four people were taken into custody after a robbery Wednesday night in Cole County.

According to a press release from Sheriff John Wheeler, at approximately 10:48 p.m., deputies responded to a residence in the 5600 block of Scherr Drive to investigate a weapons offense. It was later determined that that the house had been the target of a robbery over marijuana.

Upon arrival, deputies found that the front door of the residence had been forced open and more than five shots were fired from both inside and outside the house. There were no reported injuries.

Investigators were called out to the scene and were able to recover several shell casings, as well as other evidence.

Three subjects were detained near the scene and later arrested. A fourth subject was arrested Thursday morning.

The four face charges of first-degree robbery and armed criminal action. Their names were not released pending the filing of formal charges.
