Duplex damaged in Thanksgiving Day fire

A domestic arguement led to a duplex fire that occurred Thanksgiving Day.

The fire at 2847 Renns Lake Court was called in around 12:42 p.m., according to Cole County Fire Protection District reports.

Crews arrived on the scene in a few minutes and contained the fire to a bathroom.

Damage to the structure was estimated at $5,000. No injuries were reported.

Cole County Sheriff's Department reports show a man and woman had gotten into an argument and he set her clothes on fire in the middle of the home. He later took the clothes to the bathroom, thinking he'd put the fire out, but apparently they rekindled.
