According to Missouri Case.net, a former Fulton substitute teacher has filed a civil lawsuit against Jacque Cowherd, superintendent of Fulton Public Schools, and the Fulton Board of Education.
The lawsuit was filed by Brandon McDaniel, of New Bloomfield, who is represented by attorney David Moen, of Jefferson City, according to Case.net. Moen was not immediately available for comment.
Cowherd also was not available for comment on Thursday, according to a school official.
On Feb. 13, Fulton police said they were investigating a report of inappropriate electronic conduct between a male Fulton High School employee and a 17-year-old female student via Snapchat.
Also on Feb. 13 and Feb. 17, Cowherd said the status of the employee had not been determined. Cowherd said the employee was not a teacher. However, KMIZ-17, a local ABC affiliate, reported Thursday the employee was a long-term substitute teacher, and he was fired Feb. 13.
The case has been assigned to Cole Circuit Judge Daniel Richard Green, according to Case.net. The lawsuit was filed Wednesday.
