2 charged in killing of man abducted from Columbia motel

MEXICO, Mo. (AP) -- Two people from suburban St. Louis have been charged with killing a man who was abducted from a Columbia motel, and authorities are searching for a third suspect.

The Columbia Daily Tribune reports that 37-year-old Richard Henry II and 39-year-old Arline Diedrich are jailed without bond on first-degree murder and other charges in the fatal shooting of 30-year-old Leon Wilder III, of Columbia. No attorneys are listed for them in online court records.

Witnesses told investigators that they saw Wilder being forced into a pickup truck after an argument about money. Wilder was near death when he was found Thursday along a road near the Boone-Audrain county line.

Investigators found blood in Henry's truck after spotting the vehicle on surveillance video. Diedrich told investigators she saw Henry shoot Wilder.
