Red Cross currently accepting local hero nominations

The American Red Cross of Central & Northern Missouri is accepting nominations for local residents to honor at its annual Red Cross Heroes Dinner.

Award categories include:

Blood Services, for a blood donor or organization that promotes community blood donation awareness;

Community Impact, for an individual or organization displaying leadership and commitment to the community by making a positive and significant impact on society;

Emergency Medical Assistance, for someone who provided medical assistance during a time of crisis;

Firefighter, for an on-duty professional or volunteer firefighter, squad or team, including dispatchers, who exhibited heroism in an emergency;

Good Samaritan (adult), for an adult who selflessly provided help or sympathy to those in need;

Good Samaritan (youth), for a young person who selflessly provided help or sympathy to those in need;

Health Care Professional, for a health care professional who exhibited extraordinary response to an emergency or ongoing situation;

Law Enforcement, for an on-duty professional law enforcement official, including dispatchers, who exhibited heroism in an emergency; and

Military, for an active, reserve, ROTC or retired member of the Armed Forces who acted above and beyond the call of duty, or a military supporter.

Nominees must live in one of the 21 counties served by the local chapter: Audrain, Boone, Callaway, Camden, Carroll, Chariton, Cole, Cooper, Crawford, Dent, Howard, Maries, Miller, Moniteau, Montgomery, Morgan, Osage, Phelps, Pulaski, Randolph and Saline.

To submit a nomination, fill out a nomination form at redcross.org/local/missouri/eastern-missouri/cnmo-heroes.

The deadline to submit nominations is Dec. 31. Self-nominations will not be accepted.

Winners will be honored at the Red Cross Heroes Dinner on March 21 at Capitol Plaza Hotel in Jefferson City.
