Jefferson City man seriously injured in motorcycle accident

One person was hurt in a motorcycle crash Friday afternoon in Jefferson City.

The crash occurred in the 3600 block of U.S. 50 West around 3:25 p.m. near Capital Mall, according to police reports.

Emergency personnel found the motorcycle driver, Tracey Tiethoff, 43, of Jefferson City, lying in the passing lane of the roadway and the motorcycle in the median.

The investigation revealed Tiethoff had been travelling in the passing lane when, for an unknown reason, he veered off the left side of the roadway and onto the edge of the grass median. Tiethoff lost control of the motorcycle, and it went down on its right side and began tumbling in the median, ejecting Tiethoff.

He was transported from the scene by ambulance and flown to University of Missouri Hospital in Columbia for treatment of serious injuries. He was wearing a helmet.
