Fulton City Council to review requests for events

Questions surrounding upcoming events will be settled by members of the Fulton City Council when it meets at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday.

Debbie LaRue, representing the Brick District, will request permission for the closure of a portion of Court Street for "Broadway on the Bricks," an event planned at the Brick District Playhouse on July 1. The street would be closed from noon-11 p.m.

Members of the 46th annual Callaway County CROP Hunger Walk are also submitting a plan for their event, planned at 1:30 p.m. Oct. 9. The walk will begin at Westminster College, and a permit for the route needs to be approved.

City Council members also will discuss this year's schedule for road repairs. A list of priority projects which includes overlay, chip sealing, milling and sidewalks, is available at City Hall.

An announcement also will be made of a sale of the city's surplus items at 9 a.m. June 11 at an old city warehouse. A list of items includes furniture, animal cages, three non-running golf carts, machinery and vehicles.

City Council members also will take a look at a proposed ordinance establishing a ban of lead materials in public and drinking water in Fulton.

At the council's May 10 work session, members also discussed discontinuing garage sale permits, a change to be discussed at a future meeting.
