"I do most of the graphics for the street fair," she said. "I created the (button) graphic but the (Fulton) state hospital workers put them together. It's all about giving back to the community, and everything has to be a non-profit."

This 13th annual fair will be centered around Fulton's Brick District on June 17 and 18. Registration fees collected from various events will be donated to community organizations, according to Morts.

"For example, the tug-of-war, those registration fees are going to Central Missouri Honor Flight," she said, adding this organization takes America's war veterans to Washington, D.C. to visit memorials dedicated to honor their service and sacrifices. "I think it takes $1,400, $1,500 to send one veteran."

The 2016 buttons sport a graphic of fireworks and a picture of CJ, the festival's mascot mule. Morts said buttons will be $2 each and sold at Callaway Bank, Central Bank, Callaway Chamber of Commerce events and through street fair committee members. Each button entitles the bearer to a free ice cream at June 17th's ice cream social at the Callaway County Courthouse, a discount at the beer garden and entrance into an area full of children's activities.

"I'll update the Fulton Street Fair Facebook page when we add locations," Morts said about button sales.

Each button is backed with a unique number. The bearer of the button will be eligible for daily drawings, which start June 12 and end June 18. Prizes include gift cards, rounds of golf, furniture, bicycles and cash.

Morts said the grand marshals of June 18th's parade have not yet been named. Most of the traditional events are back, including the live mule auction, the Callaway Cup race and the carnival. New this year will be the lift off of five hot air balloons from Memorial Park on Friday between 7 and 9 p.m. Brick skidding, which shows off the stacking skills of burly brick workers, will be highlighted throughout the festival. The mule derby, a fierce competition between several local teams, also will return.
