AUXVASSE, Mo. - Terra Bella Farms will present a farm-to-table dinner to benefit a local organization.

The Auxvasse farm is hosting the benefit dinner for the Coalition Against Rape & Domestic Violence (CARDV) on Aug. 28 at the Court Street United Methodist Church in Fulton. CARDV offers a 24-hour helpline for victims and survivors of domestic abuse and sexual assault, as well as crisis intervention, case management and other services.

"We have done this for several different groups," Terra Bella Farms owner Margot McMillen said. "We put together a dinner made from local produce as a fundraiser for not-for-profits."

McMillen said she is donating a lot of food from her farm.

"A lot of it will be coming from our farm, but some of it we have purchased from the Fulton Farmers Market," she said.

This is the second time McMillen has put together a fundraiser for CARDV.

"We feel it's a good local organization," she said. "We've known people on the board for a long time. We think they do great work and would love to help them raise some money."

McMillen has several fundraiser dinners planned throughout the year for local organizations including the Fulton Soup Kitchen, Our House Homeless Shelter, Friends of Responsible Agriculture and community radio station KOPN.

"A lot of our local organizations need more help," she said. "We're just a couple of people on a farm; there's not too much we can do. This is our way of stepping up to try and help them out."
