Firefighters and EMTs carry Margert Savage up a steep embankment after her vehicle plunged down the hillside near Route B and U.S. 54.

A Jefferson City teenager was treated for moderate injuries after a one-vehicle crash Monday morning in the Capital City.

According to police reports, officers were dispatched at 8:09 a.m. for a rollover crash near the ramp from Missouri 179 South to eastbound U.S. 54 West.

Margaret Savage, 16, was off the road in a wooded area along the side of the ramp.

Northbound on Route B approaching the intersection ramp for eastbound U.S. 54 West, Savage made a right turn onto the ramp and lost traction to the rear wheels, causing her rear tires to skid left, right and then again to the left.

Savage left the roadway to the right, slid down an embankment and struck several trees.

Due to the angle of the embankment, Savage rolled over once on the passenger side, coming to rest about 30 yards off the roadway on the two driver's-side wheels. The passenger side of the vehicle was somewhat elevated off the ground because it was resting on top of some broken trees.

Firefighters had to go down the hill and use a rope system to bring Savage up about 200 feet to the top of the hill and transfer her to ambulance personnel.

Savage was wearing a seat belt and was treated for back, neck and head pain.
