'Empty Bowls' to combat hunger, homelessness

Empty Bowls is a fundraiser to help the local Salvation Army Center of Hope fight hunger and homelessness in the Jefferson City area.

The public is invited to enjoy delicious soups prepared by local restaurants, plus breads, dessert and beverages from local businesses. Each $20 ticket will include the choice of a ceramic bowl hand-glazed and decorated by local artisans and volunteers.

Empty Bowls will be held from 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Aug. 2 in Jefferson City at Windstone Entertainment, 2425 Industrial Drive.

The event is sponsored by KRCG-TV, KMIZ-TV, Jefferson City News Tribune and a donor who wishes to remain anonymous, in partnership with Capital Arts.
