Take that first step toward fitness

Looking for a beginner’s guide to help you get back into the gym or get started as a first timer?

One of the most important things to understand is everyone has to start somewhere. It’s just a matter of how to begin and what level is most comfortable for you and your fitness ability.

Let’s begin by talking about the “gym intimidation” factor, which has a tendency to be a huge deterrent. Who really wants to walk into a gym with a room full of people who have dedicated themselves to fitness? Or, at least, it seems that way because you are just beginning.

In reality, those others at the gym may have just started yesterday. Once you can get past that mindset, it will be a little easier to begin.

Remember, not everyone is looking at you. In fact, they may think you are looking at them.

Next, let’s think about motivation. We are all unique individuals and what motivates one may not motivate another. Focus on what gives you the incentive to improve and begin your new journey toward a better life. You will be successful as long as you continue to remind yourself why you set those goals at the start.

Do you have a previous injury that prohibits certain types of exercises? Don’t let that stop you.

Reach out to your physician to discuss what you can and cannot do in order to get yourself out of a sedentary lifestyle. With your doctor’s advice, you can modify your routine to fit what your body will allow you to do.

Modified routines are available at Studio 573. Let us know what you want to achieve and we will help you work past any hurdles you may have.

Several months ago, I met my current business partner, Erin Bidlack, and joined her at our 7,000-square-foot studio, now known as Studio 573. Exercise has been a part of my life for decades; no matter what obstacle life has thrown at me, I have maintained the fitness mindset.

Beginning a new fitness routine is going to be challenging. Quitting is easy. Never stop reminding yourself that you can do it and continue to incorporate fitness in your life.

Erin and I are here to help. Reach out to us and let us help you take the first step toward a better life through fitness.
