Last weekend to screen Oscar Nominated Shorts at Capitol City Cinema

Screenings of the 2019 Oscar Nominated Shorts will continue through Sunday at Capitol City Cinema.

For more than a decade, ShortsTV has brought the Oscar Nominated Short Films to audiences across the globe, according to a news release about this event at Capitol City Cinema. This release features this year’s short films, with categories shown at Capitol City Cinema including live action and animated.

The news release said each nominee is released in one of three distinct feature-length compilations according to category of nomination: live action, animation and documentary. The films go into theaters shortly after nominations are announced and not released anywhere else until a few days before the Oscars, which is Feb. 24 this year. They are then made available via on demand platforms such as iTunes, Amazon Instant Video, Google Play and Vimeo On Demand. The release ensures the greatest number of viewers can see all the nominees before the ceremony, while providing short filmmakers the opportunity to commercialize their movies, the news release said.

Capitol City Cinema will host the 2019 Oscar Nominated Shorts screenings at 7 p.m. today, 6 p.m. and 8:15 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and 1 and 3:15 p.m. Sunday.
