Presenting a night filled with fun and laughter, Off the Cuff Improv Group of Mid-Missouri will perform "A Night at the Improv - Friday the 13th Edition" on July 13 at Scene One Theatre.

The show will be done in style of "Whose Line is it Anyway?" with part of the show having a Friday the 13th theme.

"The actual date of the show is Friday the 13th, so it's going to have a bit of a horror theme to it. We figured we might as well utilize it," said Tim Nessel of Off the Cuff Improv, who will be hosting the show. "It won't necessarily be that way for the entire game, but the idea is to have it sort of be maybe horror films or suspense, things like that."

Parts of the performance will also include some participation from the audience.

"We have several games that will require input from the audience," Nessel said. "We do not always get the audience involved physically, meaning if we have a particular game we won't necessarily bring up someone who has no idea what we're doing and involve them in that way. We do ask them to participate in giving us suggestions for situations, locations, relationships for people, things of that nature."

"There is sort of a wow factor that they're not going to see a show that they kind of know what the show is about," he added. "All this is is a theme; we have no idea where the relationships are going to go and literally they are not going to know what to expect."

In some of the group's past performance they have also included special guests. The last show the group performed at Scene One Theatre included KRCG weatherman Zach Paul and Mayor Carrie Tergin.

"They were both great sports," Nessel said. "They were aware of what I had in mind, I made sure to run it by them so they were in the loop, and they had a lot of fun and they added a little something extra.

Guests can expect a lot of laughs from 10-12 performers at the show, which will last around two hours including intermission. The show will begin at 7 p.m. and guests can also enjoy cocktails provided by Shrunken Head Tropic Lounge.

Tickets are $12 and can be reserved by calling 573-635-6713 or emailing [email protected]. Payment for tickets will be accepted at the door the night of the performance with check or cash only.

"I can promise you this, 99 percent of people who leave the show leave with a smile on their face," Nessel said.
