Dedicated to those who love to learn and tinker, Mid Mo Maker Labs is well on its way to providing a space for local inventors and innovators.

M3 Labs is Jefferson City's first business to offer classes and work space for people to experiment and grow their ideas in technology.

"We don't have anything near here that gives the community this type of opportunity so we wanted to bring this as an opportunity to Jeff City to help people get into technology who may be a little hesitant, or people who are into technology but don't want to buy all the equipment," said Brett Welschmeyer, president and founder of M3 Labs. "It gets people acquainted with technology in the future because that's were it's moving and we've found that a lot of people and a lot schools don't give you the hands on that people need so we wanted to do that. We wanted to give them a place to grow and build what they want."

The labs are currently on a class-by-class basis and are working to get more equipment in for more advanced uses. Upcoming classes include an introduction to Arduino class May 12.

"What that is, is a little programmable circuit board where you can learn how to program this, you learn how to turn the L.E.D. lights on and off and use different types of resistors and potentiometers and learn how that works between the computer and that board," Welschmeyer said. "So it kind of teaches you the basics of how you can program cool little gadgets and gizmos with it."

An Introduction to Soldering class will also be held in May. An Arduino intermediate class, Small Office and Home Office Networking class, Online Security class, and Introduction to Block Chain and Bitcoin class will be held in the near future. They also look forward to offering wood shop classes and will have a community hack night, which serves as an open forum where people can show off what they're building or share ideas about what they'd like to create, at least once a month.

Sign ups can be found on the Mid Mo Maker Labs website at midmomakerlabs.com/classes. They are currently offering an early membership promotion which entails 50 percent off classes. Students and those interested are also encouraged to suggest classes they would like take.

Mid Mo Maker Labs is located at 900 Madison St. behind Madison Street Realty.
