Payless ShoeSource will close its Capital Mall location at the end of today, leaving the chain's 2014 Missouri Blvd., location as the only one in Jefferson City.
Payless spokeswoman Meghan Spreer confirmed the store's closing, saying she is unable to provide any other information. It's not known whether the discount shoe seller plans to replace the Capital Mall store with another one.
It's also not known whether the mall has plans for the space that Payless occupied. Jaime Reed, the mall's general manager, could not be reached for comment last week.
