Big O Tires' new Jefferson City location is set to open its garage doors to customers on Monday.
The new tire service shop, located at 1614 Jefferson St., replaces Big O Tires' previous location across U.S. 54 on Christy Drive.
MFA Petroleum announced last December it had purchased the former Truman 4 Theatres property, which ceased operations in 2013 and had been for sale since. After demolishing the old theater building, MFA built a new tire shop that's larger than Big O Tires' nearby home for the past 10 years or so with 12 bays.
"We spared no expense on this building. The equipment in it, especially the alignment equipment, is state of the art," said Rusty Coats, Big O Tires operations director for MFA.
For example, the new tire shop features equipment that checks a vehicle's alignment more efficiently than ever as the vehicle simply drives over it.
"It also takes a photograph of the entire tread of the tire and will grade your tires for how much tread is left on them," Coats said. "It takes about two minutes to do all of that."
Redeveloping the Jefferson Street property also included concreting the entire parking lot, which had previously been asphalt, creating plenty of parking for customers, Coats said.
The new Big O Tires' will host a grand opening with equipment demonstrations and family activities on Nov. 12.
