A popular Jefferson City restaurant serving Mexican eats and treats has expanded to a second location.

Manuel Laragoza opened Manuel's Taqueria at 2403 Missouri Blvd. last week.

The new restaurant serves the same Mexican cuisine customers have come to expect - tacos, quesadillas, burritos, tostadas, tortas, tamales and so on - from Mi Pueblo Bakery and Taqueria, which Laragoza opened three years ago at 510 Ellis Blvd.

The original restaurant, whose quick delivery and small space make it a takeout option for many, also offers a wide selection of cookies, cakes and other pastries baked on site. But the new Manuel's Taqueria will serve some of those treats, like Mi Pueblo's fan-favorite flan, while offering customers a larger dine-in area.

Laragoza said his primary reason for opening the second location was to add convenience for customers who live closer to the west side of Jefferson City.

"Missouri Boulevard is more business, more people walking," he said. "If the customers are happy, I'm more happy."

The Missouri Boulevard location most recently housed Indian restaurant Curry House, which closed in May.

Manuel's Taqueria is open seven days a week, with later hours than the Ellis Boulevard location: 10:30 a.m.-10:30 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and 10:30 a.m.-1 a.m. Friday and Saturday.
