BLUE SPRINGS -- The Jefferson City Lady Jays took fourth out of 17 teams Thursday in the Rusty Hodge Invitational at Blue Springs South High School.
The Lady Jays were led by Cheria Galbreath with two event wins. Galbreath started with a first-place finish in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 16.16 seconds, then won the 300 hurdles in 46.27.
Jefferson City had two other event winners Thursday.
Stevenette Samuels won the discus with a throw of 135 feet, four inches and took fifth in shot put with a throw of 37-6.5, while Lillian Davis won the shot put for the Lady Jays with a heave of 39-0.5.
Jefferson City’s 4x400 relay team of Galbreath, Riley Schonhardt, Ella Kinsey and Victoria Smith finished fifth in 4:17.28.
Schonhardt had two other top-five finishes, taking third in the 100 hurdles with a time of 17.11 and fifth in the 300 hurdles in 50.76.
Rounding out the Lady Jays top-five finishers was Kaylee Redcay, who took fifth in the javelin with a throw of 117-7.
The Jefferson City Jays finished 14th out of 17 teams in the event Thursday.
The Jays had three top-five finishes in the events, with Jayden Roling capturing two of them.
Roling finished fifth in both the discus and shot put, throwing the disc 129-10 and the shot 46-6.25.
Charles Burns was the other top-five finisher after running a fourth-place time of 15.99 in the 110 hurdles.
The Lady Jays will be back in action next Thursday at the Girls’ Night Out at Parkview High School, while the Jays will be off until next Friday when they compete in the Hillcrest Invitational.
