Prep Baseball: Ozark 11, Helias 6

OZARK -- The Ozark Tigers used a seven-run fourth inning Friday to post an 11-6 victory against the Helias Crusaders.

Helias scored three runs in the top of the first inning to take the lead.

Maddox Alfultis led off the game with a double before Landon Gerlach drew a walk. After an out, Kase Winegar walked to load the bases.

Landon King followed with a single to right to score Alfultis and Gerlach. Calen Jones later singled to score Winegar.

Ozark tied the game at 3 with a three-run third inning. Helias regained the lead in the fourth when Lucas Bloomer’s grounder brought home Myles Gresham, who led off the inning with a double.

Ozark then scored seven runs with two outs in the bottom of the inning. The Tigers finished with seven hits and one walk in the inning.

Helias then added single runs in the fifth and sixth innings. Alfultis led off the fifth with a solo home run. In the sixth, King led off with a double and later scored on a grounder by Jones.

Ozark (3-0) got its final run in the sixth to make the final 11-6.

Alfultis and King had two hits each in a seven-hit Helias attack.

Trey Rice took the loss, giving up 10 runs (eight earned) on 10 hits and two walks with two strikeouts. Kristopher Haley pitched the final 2⅓ innings, giving up a run on four hits. He struck out three.

Helias (1-3) is back in action Wednesday at home against St. Michael the Archangel. The varsity game is scheduled to start at 5 p.m.
