Prep Baseball: Eugene 9, St. Elizabeth 8

EUGENE -- The Eugene Eagles walked off a 9-8 Show-Me Conference win Friday against the St. Elizabeth Hornets.

The two teams combined for nine runs in the fourth inning after three scoreless frames to start the game. St. Elizabeth took the lead with a four-run fourth before Eugene answered with five in the bottom of the inning to jump in front.

St. Elizabeth added three runs in the fifth, getting a two-run double from Blake Wobbe and an RBI single from Noah Chipman to take a 7-5 advantage.

Eugene tied the game in the bottom of the sixth on back-to-back RBI singles by Cole Bradley and Colby Renn. Isaac Green scored on a groundout in the top of the seventh to put St. Elizabeth back in front 8-7.

The Eagles tied the game in the bottom of the seventh, drawing four walks in a span of five batters. Sam Schulte then hit a sacrifice fly to right field, scoring Drew Hart for the winning run.

Bradley led the Eugene offense with two hits, including a double, and four RBI.

Ryan Lepper pitched the first 3⅓ innings for the Eagles, giving up four runs on four hits with two walks and two strikeouts. Colby Renn followed with two walks and two strikeouts in 1⅓ innings of relief, while Bradley -- who picked up the win -- had three walks and one strikeout in 2⅓ innings.

Eli Kemna started on the mound for St. Elizabeth, pitching 3⅓ innings and allowing four runs on three hits and four walks, while striking out five.

Carter Otto pitched the next 2⅔ innings and allowed three runs on two hits and two walks, while striking out one. Aiden Otto pitched the final two-thirds of an inning, allowing two runs on four walks.

Offensively, Brady Kemna had a triple, an RBI and two walks, while Green was 1-for-2 with a double, an RBI, a walk and was hit by a pitch. Blake Wobbe was 1-for-2 with a double, three RBI, a walk and a sacrifice fly, while Noah Chipman went 2-for-4 with two RBI.

Eugene (3-2, 1-0 Show-Me), which is receiving votes in the Class 2 state rankings, plays Monday at Class 2 No. 2 Iberia.

St. Elizabeth (2-3, 0-1 Show-Me), ranked No. 1 in Class 1, plays Monday at Vienna.
