Missouri Speaker of the House Dean Plocher hosted a brief ceremony in the House chamber Monday to unveil the bust of Marie Watkins Oliver, who is hailed as the "Betsy Ross of Missouri." Oliver played a key role in designing and crafting the Missouri State Flag. Her great-great grandson Jack Oliver, shown at right.
The Hall of Famous Missourians gained a new member Monday -- Marie Watkins Oliver.
Oliver is known as "The Betsy Ross of Missouri" and designed Missouri's state flag.
