Jefferson City boys tennis tops Capital City in CMAC dual

The Jefferson City Jays picked up their fourth dual victory in a row Friday with a 6-3 crosstown Central Missouri Activities Conference victory against the Capital City Cavaliers at Capital City High School.

The Jays won two of the three doubles matches to start the dual. Arjun Garikapaty and Avnith Kumar won 8-5 against Ethan McNutt and Isaiah Schnoebelen, and Hoang Hoang and Dhruv Divyakumar picked up an 8-5 win against Rahi Patel and Trevor Vogt.

Capital City’s pair of Xander Schmid and Abhinav Pula picked up an 8-5 victory against David Murillo and Owen Friedewald for the Cavaliers’ lone doubles win.

Jefferson City won four of the six singles matches. Garikapaty won 8-4 against McNutt, Divyakumar was an 8-5 winner against Patel, Murillo beat Schmid 8-0 and Friedewald won 8-6 against Pula.

Vogt won 8-2 against Kumar and Schnoebelen picked up an 8-1 victory against Hoang for Capital City.

Jefferson City (6-1, 2-0 CMAC) will be back in action at 4 p.m. for a dual at Rolla.

Capital City (3-6, 1-1 CMAC) will return to the courts at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday at Rock Bridge for another CMAC dual.
