Jefferson City Best Buy to close this fall

The Jefferson City Best Buy location will close this fall, with no plans to reopen a local branch of the national chain.

A Best Buy spokesperson confirmed the store at 3225 Missouri Blvd. will close after Oct. 30.

"The decision to close a store is never an easy one, and we are so grateful for our Jefferson City area customers who have shopped with us over the years," read the statement provided by Kevin Flanagan, of Best Buy. "We hope they continue to shop with us at BestBuy.com."

The store closure is part of Best Buy's ongoing review of stores as leases come up for renewal.

Starbucks to open new Truman Boulevard location

A new Starbucks is in the works near Capital Mall.

Earth has begun to move at a property on West Truman Boulevard and Country Club Drive where a new standalone Starbucks is planned. A Starbucks spokesperson confirmed the new location, set to open next spring and employ 25 people.

The company did not respond to a question about whether the new location would affect the Starbucks that currently operates inside the nearby Hy-Vee.
