Shooting ends in charges for St. Louis man

A St. Louis man has been charged with firing gun shots Wednesday night in Jefferson City.

Lovarse Posley Jr., 22, is charged with unlawful use of a weapon and armed criminal action.

According to reports from the Jefferson City Police Department, the shooting occurred just after 9:30 p.m. in the 600 block of Clark Avenue.

Posley was at the Break Time on Clark making a purchase when a male approached him and the two began to fight.

Posley was already in his vehicle when the altercation began and had a firearm readily accessible in his vehicle.

The physical altercation ended and Posley got out of the car and pointed the gun at the other man who was running away. Posley fired one round at the fleeing man, missing him.

Posley and a woman left the scene, but were stopped shortly after by police.

The woman told police she was getting into the car with Posley when the unknown male began fighting with him. She said she went into the store to call 911, and while inside heard a pop sound not knowing what the sound was. She came back outside and left with Posley.

When questioned by authorities, Posley admitted shooting at the man and said he did not know who he was.

Posely admitted acquiring the gun Tuesday in an effort to protect himself since he was involved in a previous altercation.

He also said he fired the gun in the air, but video footage from the store shows Posley pointed the gun toward the man.

Posley also said he disposed of the gun at a friend’s home after the shooting.
