Commission approves senior funding, agreements

The Cole County Commission recently approved an annual appropriation of $10,000 to the Senior Nutrition Center for its work in providing meals/activities to senior citizens in the county.

The center has two sites, and serves about 120 home-bound residents and 200 indigent residents. The county provided the $10,000 funding last year, but commissioners said this may be the last year to fund such not-for-profit organizations.

The vote was approved 2-1, with Western District Commissioner Kris Scheperle opposed.

Also at the commission's March 17 meeting, it unanimously approved a preliminary vote to transfer lease of county property at Legion Sports Complex, 4009 County Park Road. American Legion is transferring the baseball league to the Central Missouri Parochial Athletic League (PAL), so the county's lease also would transfer to PAL.

The county leases the property for $1 a year, and requires American Legion upkeep the property and use it for an athletic field.

In other action, the commission unanimously approved agreements with:

• Arrow International for EZ IO needles for emergency medical services.

• On-Site Oil for ambulance maintenance and repair services.

• Precision Security for building monitoring services of various county buildings. The contract is for $4,366 and $150 a month.

• Wavco for $17,000 for installation of sallyport door at the new jail.

• Ennis Paint for an estimated $35,100 to provide glass reflective beads for road-striping.

• Ennis Paint for an estimated $107,000 to provide paint material.

• Jefferson Asphalt to provide road replacement (cold milling and asphalt paving).

• Capital City Air for $15,318 for heating/air conditioning improvements in the emergency services building.

• Putnam Chevrolet in California for a $18,098 Ford Escape through the state contract. The vehicle will replace an older vehicle in the county's Health Department.

The commission tabled a bill to contract for roof replacement on on various county buildings, including the Carnegie Building, which houses the Assessor's Office. Seven bidders are competing for the work.

Also at the meeting, the commission designated:

• Henry Adkins & Son as the sole source provider for programming and ballot printing. The cost will depend on providing the county with new voting equipment.

• Huber & Associates as the sole source provider for maintenance support for Enterpol Public Safety Software and Infrustructure for the Sheriff's Department.

• Physio Control of Redmond, Washington as the sole source provider for chest compression system and maintenance services.

• Ferno EMS of Ohio for Lucas patient transport and loading system cots.
