Tina Cole's personal weight-loss journey spurred the creation of her second Jefferson City business, TryFitness Studio, which officially opened Saturday.

Cole and business partner Carla Henry have been hosting free fitness classes at the 616 E. High St. studio since November.

Cole, who also owns The Xchange Boutique at 111 E. High St. with business partner Erin Gieck, has lost 65 pounds since June 2015.

"I've been working my butt off," she laughed. "It's just fun to me now. It's a new way of life for me, and I just love it. I try to turn my passions into my income so I enjoy what I'm doing for work. ...

"This is a way to keep myself in shape and help other people get in shape."

Cole and Henry recently completed their Zumba certification. In addition to classes in the popular dance fitness workout, TryFitness Studio offers total body workouts and targeted toning classes.

Henry will soon be certified to teach Zumba Kids classes, and the studio's owners are studying to obtain their personal trainer certifications as well as actively seeking a yoga instructor.

"We're also looking for others who are eduated in the fitness world and would like to host classes," Cole said.

TryFitness Studio's current schedule offers hour-long classes at 6 a.m., 5:45 p.m. and 7 p.m., as well as a 30-minute class at 8:15 p.m., Mondays through Thursdays; 8:30 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. classes on Saturdays; and youth classes at 11 a.m. on Saturdays.

Cole said they plan to expand the schedule as they become able to offer a wider variety of classes.

The studio charges $45 per month for an unlimited-class membership or $5 per class for non-members.
