Lincoln baseball falls to Maryville

JOPLIN - The Maryville Saints completed a four-game, neutral-site series with the Lincoln Blue Tigers to open the season by capturing a 12-6 win Sunday.

Lincoln led just once, that after one inning, as the Saints scored one in the bottom half of the frame and the Blue Tigers answered with two. Lincoln's first run came from Mason Price on the back half of a double steal, while the other came on an RBI single by Jackson Walker.

Maryville scored one in the second and five in the third to go up 7-2.

Each team scored three in the fourth, with Walker smacking an RBI double and Daniel Castillo and Laban Petzoldt adding RBI singles.

Two runs for the Saints in the top of the fifth made it 12-5, where it stayed until the Blue Tigers got their final run in the seventh. Mike Million had a triple and came home on a single by Price.

Lincoln is off until traveling to Missouri S&T on Feb. 20 for a doubleheader.
