The Jays Kids Wrestling Club had 14 wrestlers compete in the Missouri State Rookie Tournament for first-year wrestlers on Jan. 30.
Out of the 14, 11 medaled and four took first-place honors. Those who placed were:
• First - Alexis Dunwiddie, Taylor Hopkins, David Gibson III and Dawson Schuemann.
• Second - Grant Leininger.
• Third - Leyton Opare and Dawson Prenger.
• Fourth - Mauro Kroeger and Carter Prenger.
• Fifth - Nicholas Redcay.
• Sixth - Landen Hentges.
On Jan. 31, the team competed at the Mo District Duals and had nine wrestlers make the district team, the most of any team in the district.
