Kentucky edges MU in softball

LEXINGTON, Ky. — The No. 12 Kentucky Wildcats rallied for a 3-2 win against No. 18 Missouri on Sunday in the deciding game of their three-game softball series.

Kentucky, which won the opener of the set Friday by a 7-6 score before falling 9-2 on Saturday, twice had answers for Missouri, matching the Tigers’ single tallies in the second and fourth innings.

The Wildcats (37-9 overall, 13-5 Southeastern Conference) then got the game’s deciding run in the bottom of the seventh. Kentucky, which got outhit 8-4, scored in the second and sixth on solo home runs.

Missouri got a solo homer from Emily Crane, while Chloe Rathburn and Sami Fagan had two hits apiece. Regan Nash chipped in with a hit and an RBI.

Paige Lowary (16-6) threw a complete game while taking the loss. All three runs were earned and she walked three while striking out four.

Missouri (29-12, 6-9) will play a doubleheader Tuesday at Iowa.
