Georgia blanks Missouri softball 10-0

COLUMBIA, Mo. - No. 10 Georgia scored in all five innings Saturday, beating the No. 14 Missouri softball team 10-0 at University Field.

Missouri (26-9, 5-6 Southeastern Conference) could only manage two hits against Bulldogs starting pitcher Brittany Gray. Gray struck out three and walked four in four innings.

Kylie Bass walked one in one inning of relief for Georgia (33-8, 7-4).

Cheyenne Baxter (1-1) took the loss for the Tigers, allowing three runs on one hit and two walks while striking out two in an inning of relief.

Tori Finucane pitched two innings of relief, giving up three runs on six hits while striking out two. Paige Lowary threw the first two innings, allowing four runs (three earned) on four hits while striking out two.

Sami Fagan and Regan Nash each had a hit for Missouri.

It was the second straight blowout loss for Missouri. On Friday, the Bulldogs scored 11 runs in the final four innings and rallied for a 12-4 win.

The game was tied at 1 after two innings, with Georgia scoring in the first and Missouri getting a tally in the second.

Missouri, which got outhit 15-4, scored its first run thanks to an error, a passed ball, a groundout and an RBI single by Rylee Pierce.

Missouri made it 3-1 in the third by scoring two runs on zero hits. Emily Crane walked, stole second and scored when Taylor Gadbois reached on an error. Gadbois later scored on a sacrifice fly by Chloe Rathburn.

Georgia then got two runs in the fourth and three in the fifth to take a 6-3 lead.

Missouri got its final run in the sixth. Kirsten Mack singled, moved to second on a groundout, went to third on a wild pitch and scored on a sacrifice fly by Natalie Fleming.

Georgia tacked on six runs in the top of the seventh on seven hits and one error.

Finucane started for Missouri and gave up three earned runs on four hits while striking out three in four innings.

Danielle Baumgartner (11-3) came on and took the loss, giving up five runs (two earned) on six hits and one walk in 2 1/3 innings.

Lowary followed and gave up four runs (three earned) in just one third of an inning. She walked one, struck out one and allowed four hits. Baxter gave up one hit before getting the final out.

The teams close out the series with a game at noon Sunday.
