COLUMBIA, Mo. - The Blair Oaks Lady Falcons went 1-1 on Friday on the opening day of the Hickman Tournament.
Blair Oaks opened with an 8-2 victory against Lee's Summit West. Payton Staggs was the winning pitcher, tossing a six-hitter. She allowed one earned run and struck out one.
Staggs had three hits and four RBI in the victory. Carli Buschjost added two hits, while Hannah Schroeder and Sydney Wilde had RBI.
Blair Oaks then fell 5-3 to Blue Springs South.
Staggs took the loss, working three innings. She allowed five runs (two earned) on three hits and four walks. She struck out two. Megan Mitchem worked the final three innings, allowing four hits and striking out three.
Schroeder had two hits and two RBI, while Staggs also had two hits and drove in a run.
Blair Oaks (13-3) resumes tournament play at 10:30 a.m. today against Hickman.
