Jays, Helias take first at Raymore Peculiar Invitational

PECULIAR, Mo. - Saxon Teubner and Jackson Schwartz finished first and second overall to lead the Jefferson City High School boys cross country team to a first-place finish Saturday in the large-school portion of the Raymore Peculiar Invitational. Cole Biesemeyer was ninth for the Jays, whose score of 56 edged out a 71 posted by Olathe East (Kan.) and Lee's Summit West's 107.

Kayelee Payton was fourth overall in the girls race, and the Lady Jays took fifth overall (124), coming in behind Park Hill South (54), Lee's Summit West (78), Olate East (Kan.) (106) and Raymore-Peculiar (117).

In the small-school competition, Helias took first in both boys and girls races. Elliot Knernschield finished first overall for Helias in the boys competition, and six Lady Crusaders finished in the top 10 of the girls race: Kayla Yanskey, Abby Hake, Kylie Mulholland, Allison Wieberg, Alicia Engelbrecht and Lanie Hentges.

Jefferson City finished second in the large-school JV boys competition, led by Dylan Fischer's fourth-place finish. The Lady Jays took first in the small-school JV girls race, led by Syleste Martinez and Alivia Bopp, who finished third and fourth, respectively.

Helias took second in the small-school JV boys race, paced by Riley Scott's first-place finish. The Lady Crusaders finished first as the only full team in JV small-school competition, led by Claire McDonald's first-place race.
