TORONTO (AP) - Troy Tulowitzki, Jose Bautista and Kevin Pillar homered against Chris Tillman, and the Toronto Blue Jays beat the Baltimore Orioles 10-4 on Sunday.
AL East-leading Toronto improved to 78-58, becoming the first team since the 2004 Astros to reach 20 games above .500 after having a losing record following the All-Star break.
Toronto was 50-51 on July 28, the day after the Blue Jays acquired Tulowitzki from Colorado. Two days later, Toronto added left-hander David Price in a deal with Detroit.
Tulowitzki and Bautista each had a two-run shot, and Pillar belted a solo drive. Josh Donaldson drove in two runs for the Blue Jays, raising his major league-leading total to 114 RBIs.
Marco Estrada (12-8) pitched five innings for his first win in three starts.
The slumping Orioles lost for the 14th time in 17 games. Tillman (9-11) is 0-4 with a 15.50 ERA in five starts against Toronto this season.
YANKEES 6, RAYS 4
NEW YORK (AP) - Brian McCann and Alex Rodriguez hit back-to-back homers off All-Star Chris Archer that sent New York past Tampa Bay.
Ivan Nova (6-7) pitched six solid innings to stop a three-start losing streak and help the Yankees take two of three in the series. New York, which leads the American League wild-card chase, remained 1 1/2 games behind Toronto in the AL East.
After the first 18 Yankees batters were held to one hit, New York finally broke through in the sixth inning and erased a 3-0 deficit. McCann hit a three-run shot with two outs off Archer (12-11) for his career-high 25th home run.
Rodriguez connected on the next pitch from Archer, who had allowed only one home run in eight previous starts against New York. He entered 5-0 with a 1.78 ERA against the Yankees.
Andrew Miller stranded two runners in the ninth for his 31st save in 32 attempts.
Asdrubal Cabrera and Kevin Kiermaier homered for the Rays.
PIRATES 7, CARDINALS 1
ST. LOUIS (AP) - Gerrit Cole pitched seven scoreless innings and Pittsburgh used home runs from Aramis Ramirez, Sean Rodriguez and Starling Marte to beat St. Louis.
Cole (16-8) gave up two hits, struck out seven and walked three as he bounced back from his worst start of the season.
Second-place Pittsburgh cut the Cardinals' lead in the NL Central to 5 1/2 games and earned its first series victory at Busch Stadium since April 2013. The teams are 8-8 against each other with one series to play at Pittsburgh in the final week of the season.
John Lackey (11-9) gave up three runs and 10 hits in 7 1-3 innings but extended his streak of quality starts at home to 15.
Cole also drove in his first run of the season with a two-out single in the seventh off Lackey.
MARLINS 4, METS 3
MIAMI (AP) - Martin Prado hit a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the ninth inning to give Miami a victory over the New York Mets.
New York's lead in the NL East was shaved to four games over the Nationals heading into a pivotal three-game series between the teams beginning Monday afternoon in Washington.
The Mets dropped two of three in Miami, with both losses coming on game-ending swings by Prado. He also hit a walk-off double in Friday's 6-5 win in 11 innings as part of a five-hit night.
Pinch-hitter Justin Bour delivered a tying homer for the Marlins with two outs in the eighth off Tyler Clippard (2-1).
A.J. Ramos (2-4) escaped a bases-loaded jam in the ninth when pinch-hitter Travis d'Arnaud grounded into a double play.
Yoenis Cespedes and Wilmer Flores homered for the Mets. Touted rookie Steven Matz exited in the sixth with a blister on his middle finger but was optimistic he'll be able to make his next start.
It was Matz's first major league start since July 5. He was sidelined for nearly two months with a partially torn muscle near his armpit.
NATIONALS 8, BRAVES 4
WASHINGTON (AP) - Bryce Harper homered for the third straight day and Washington beat lowly Atlanta to finish a four-game sweep.
Jayson Werth hit a three-run homer in Washington's five-run second inning, helping the Nationals to their fifth straight win and seventh in nine games overall. Yunel Escobar had three hits and scored two runs.
Five relievers combined for 4 2-3 innings of two-hit ball, with Felipe Rivero (2-1) getting the win.
Nick Swisher drove in two runs for Atlanta. Manny Banuelos (1-4) was chased in the third inning, and the Braves went on to their 12th straight loss for the first time since 1988.
The Nationals improved to 13-3 this year against Atlanta. They took all 10 home games, matching a franchise record against a division foe.
CUBS 6, DIAMONDBACKS 4
CHICAGO (AP) - Kris Bryant homered high off the left-field video board and tied a club rookie record for RBIs, and Miguel Montero hit a grand slam as Chicago defeated Arizona to complete a three-game sweep.
Bryant's drive leading off the fifth against Rubby De La Rosa (12-7) traveled an estimated 495 feet. It also gave him 86 RBIs, matching a club rookie mark held by Hall of Famer Billy Williams (1961) and Geovany Soto (2008).
Montero connected against Matt Reynolds in a five-run sixth. Pinch-hitter Jonathan Herrera added a solo drive off Silvino Bracho.
Welington Castillo had three hits, including an RBI double and a solo home run. Nick Ahmed added a two-run drive for the Diamondbacks, who have lost 11 of 14.
Justin Grimm (3-4) worked a scoreless inning in relief.
ASTROS 8, TWINS 5
HOUSTON (AP) - Jed Lowrie hit a grand slam in a five-run seventh inning and Dallas Keuchel became the American League's first 17-game winner as the Astros rallied past the Twins.
The Astros trailed by 1 when Lowrie hit his second career grand slam and his first since 2009 into the second row in right field off Trevor May (8-9) to make it 5-2. May dropped his head when Lowrie connected and shook it as he bounded around the bases and into a celebration at home plate.
Keuchel (17-6) improved to 13-0 at home this season and set a franchise record with his 14th straight win in Houston dating back to last season. He allowed five hits, three runs and struck out 12 in eight innings.
ANGELS 7, RANGERS 0
ANAHEIM, Calif. (AP) - Mike Trout snapped a career-worst 27-game home run drought, Hector Santiago pitched six innings of one-hit ball for his first victory in seven weeks and the Angels beat the Rangers to give manager Mike Scioscia his 1,400th regular-season win.
Scioscia, who has guided the Angels to six AL West championships and a World Series title during his 16 seasons in the job, surpassed Wilbert Robertson for 27th place on the career win list and became the 10th manager to reach 1,400 victories with one club.
A one-out double in the second inning by Rougned Odor was the Rangers' only hit against the effectively wild Santiago (7-9), who issued a career-high six walks and struck out three.
Shin-Soo Choo's infield single in the eighth against Mike Morin was the only other hit by the Rangers, who were shut out for the ninth time. It was the 12th shutout by the Angels' staff.
WHITE SOX 7, ROYALS 5
KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) - Adam Eaton homered and scored three times as Chicago beat Kansas City for its fourth straight win.
Eaton had three hits and is batting .517 (15 for 29) in his last seven games. Erik Johnson (1-0), one of Chicago's top prospects, pitched six innings of three-run ball in his first major league appearance this season. He allowed five hits, including homers by Salvador Perez, Jarrod Dyson and Mike Moustakas.
The AL-leading Royals were swept at home for the first time this season. Johnny Cueto (2-5) was pulled after three innings in his fourth straight loss.
David Robertson got three outs for his 29th save.
DODGERS 5, PADRES 1
SAN DIEGO (AP) - A.J. Ellis had an RBI single and the Dodgers capitalized on some sloppy defense as Los Angeles beat San Diego.
Ellis put Los Angeles ahead 2-1 with a sharp single to left in the sixth.
With the bases loaded in the seventh, Padres reliever Nick Vincent had a two-out, three-base throwing error after fielding Andre Ethier's dribbler up the first base line. Vincent tossed it over first baseman Wil Myers' head, allowing three runs to score.
The Dodgers have won 11 of their last 13 and are a season-high 20 games above .500.
The Padres have lost three straight and five of six.
Brett Anderson (9-8) pitched 5 2-3 innings, surrendering one run on four hits and four walks. He struck out four before leaving with a cramp in his left calf.
Andrew Cashner (5-14) worked six innings, allowing two runs on five hits.
GIANTS 7, ROCKIES 4
DENVER (AP) - Buster Posey connected for his 100th career home run and Matt Duffy hit a tiebreaking two-run triple in a five-run fifth, backing a gritty effort from Madison Bumgarner as San Francisco beat Colorado.
Bumgarner (17-7) went six innings and allowed four runs and nine hits, twice working out of bases loaded situations and escaping with marginal damage. He walked one and struck out three in helping the Giants salvage a split of the four-game set with the Rockies and win successive games on the road for the first time in a month.
Helping to break open a tight game, Duffy tripled to center off Yohan Flande (3-2) after consecutive singles by Gregor Blanco and Kelby Tomlinson. Flande intentionally walked Posey and was relieved by Brooks Brown. Marlon Byrd, who had four hits on the day, greeted Brown with an RBI single.
INDIANS 4, TIGERS 0
DETROIT (AP) - Cody Anderson threw seven innings of two-hit ball to outpitch Justin Verlander, and Cleveland beat skidding Detroit.
Francisco Lindor snapped a scoreless tie with a two-run triple in the sixth, helping the Indians win for the eighth time in 11 games. Anderson (3-3) walked two and struck out three.
Detroit (62-74) has dropped 13 of 16 and matched a season worst at 12 games below .500.
Verlander (3-7) allowed three runs and seven hits in seven innings, but was done in yet again by a lack of run support.
REDS 6, BREWERS 3
CINCINNATI (AP) - Jay Bruce homered and drove in three runs, Michael Lorenzen won for the first time in more than two months and Cincinnati beat Milwaukee to avoid a sweep.
Brandon Phillips also homered and had three hits for the Reds, who overcame Ryan Braun's 25th homer in the eighth inning to end Milwaukee's six-game winning streak.
Lorenzen (4-8) had been 0-5 in nine starts since a win over Miami on June 21. He pitched five shutout innings before Adam Lind drove in one run with a grounder and Shane Peterson added an RBI single in the sixth.
Aroldis Chapman struck out two in a perfect ninth for his 28th save.
Jimmy Nelson (11-11) lasted five innings, giving up nine hits.
RED SOX 6, PHILLIES 2
BOSTON (AP) - David Ortiz hit his 497th home run to get Boston's offense started, and Eduardo Rodriguez pitched seven solid innings as the Red Sox completed a three-game sweep of Philadelphia.
It was Big Papi's 200th career homer in Fenway Park. The 39-year-old slugger is looking to become the 27th player to reach the 500-homer mark.
Jackie Bradley Jr. added a two-run triple for Boston, which beat the Phillies for the 10th time in the last 12 meetings at Fenway.
It was the seventh win in 10 games overall for the Red Sox.
The Phillies (53-84), who own the majors' worst record, lost for the 10th time in 13 games.
A day after he posted his club-record ninth season with 30 homers, Ortiz connected off rookie Jerad Eickhoff (1-3). Ortiz left for a pinch-hitter in the fifth because of right calf tightness.
Rodriguez (9-5) gave up one run and eight hits, striking out seven.
MARINERS 3, ATHLETICS 2
OAKLAND, Calif. (AP) - Hisashi Iwakuma won for the fifth time in six starts and Seattle earned its fifth straight victory, completing a three-game sweep of Oakland.
Kyle Seager and Ketel Marte each drove in a run, and Brad Miller collected two hits for the Mariners.
Shawn O'Malley singled and walked Sunday and had six hits in his first seven major league at-bats as the Mariners swept a series in Oakland for the first time in six years.
Billy Butler hit a home run for the Athletics, who lost their fifth straight. The long ball gives the A's a 12-game streak with at least one homer, currently the longest active streak as Seattle had its 13-game run snapped.
Iwakuma (7-3) allowed one run on five hits in his 6 1-3 innings. He walked one and struck out three.
Sean Nolin (0-1) became the 28th pitcher used by the A's, a franchise record.
