Columbia firm gets contract for US 50 work

Highway improvements are planned for U.S. 50 in Osage and Gasconade counties after the Missouri Highways and Transportation Commission awarded a contract at its regular monthly meeting.

APAC-Missouri Inc. of Columbia was awarded a contract to resurface 50 between Missouri 100 and Missouri 89 in Linn. The work will also include adding four-foot paved shoulders in some areas, as well as upgrading pedestrian facilities to meet current Americans with Disabilities Act standards.

APAC will also overlay more than 32 miles of 50 between Linn and Rosebud and add wider shoulders to the roadway. APAC submitted the low bid of $5,368,729.

Work on both projects is scheduled to take place in the 2016 construction season. Occasional temporary lane and entrance closures are possible in the work areas.
